American Fulbright Student Lectures at ARCE
On February 22 an American Fulbright student, Jennifer Pruitt, lectured at the prestigious American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE). The presentation, “A Tale of Two Cities: Locating the Courtly and the Urban in Fatimid Art,” was a feature of ARCE’s regular series of presentations by distinguished visiting scholars. Pruitt is a doctoral candidate at Harvard University, where she is studying the art and architecture of the medieval Mediterranean. A 1997 graduate of Smith College, she is currently in Egypt under the auspices of the Binational Fulbright Commission in Egypt’s U.S. Student Program. She is conducting her research under the supervision of Dr. Osamah Talaat, a Cairo University professor of Islamic Art and Architecture.
