U.S. Fulbright Scholar Lectures, Conducts Research at Alexandria University
Dr. Hanu R. Pappu, a plant virologist at Washington State University – Pullman, is lecturing and conducting research at Alexandria University. In Alexandria Dr. Pappu will study viral diseases that threaten Egyptian agriculture while affiliated with Dr. Faiza Fattouh of the University’s Faculty of Science. Educated at Agriculture University, Hyderabad (B.Sc. 1982) and the Indian Agricultural Institute, New Delhi (M.S. 1985), Pappu received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Alberta in 1990. At Washington State University he chairs the Department of Plant Pathology and holds the President Sam Smith Chair in Plant Virology. He is in Alexandria under the auspices of the Commission’s U.S. Scholar Program. The Commission extends a warm welcome to him.
