Fulbright US Scholar Session: Healthcare in Transition-Best practices of Service Delivery for an Aging World

The General Secretariat of Mental health and Addiction Treatment of the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population in partnership with the Binational Fulbright Commission in Egypt hosted a lecture titled “Healthcare in Transition: Best practices of Service Delivery for an Aging World.” The session featured Fulbright U.S. Scholar Dr. William Hills, Professor of Psychology at Coastal Carolina University who gave a lecture on gerontology and global aging. The lecture was attended by doctors and psychologists from the hospitals of Helwan, Abbasiya, Shubra, Azazi, Tanta, Al-Khanka, as well as doctors from the General Secretariat of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment. The event was coordinated by Dr. Menan AbdelMaksoud, Secretary General of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment Hospitals at the Ministry of Health, and Dr. Maissa Eid Afifi, Consultant of Psychiatry Ain Shams University and Director of Old Age Psychiatry Department, General Secteriat of Mental health and Addiction. This session is part of the ongoing training partnership between the Fulbright Commission and the Ministry of Health which is being coordinated by Dr. Ahmed ElGohary, Advisor to the Minister of Health for Technical Education Affairs. The Fulbright Egypt team also gave an information session on the opportunities available to study and conduct research in the U.S.
