On October 24, 2022, the Binational Fulbright Commission in Egypt (BFCE) hosted its annual alumni conference at the Marriott Hotel. Highlights included presentations on Fulbrighters’ contributions in research, projects and community service in the fields of Environmental Sciences and Food Security, Humanities and Education, Medicine, Public Health and Pharmacy, as well as Global Topics. The plenary session featured Fulbright alumnus Dr. Khaled Adli, Former Governor of Giza and Professor of Urban Planning at Cairo University and Dr. Mohammed Omran, Former Head of Financial Regulatory Authority, Former Head of Egyptian Stock Exchange and Professor of Finance at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.
The conference’s final session featured the Fulbright Commission COP 27 proposed special speaker: Dr. Rameshwar S. Kanwar, C. F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor at Iowa State University and U.S. Specialist to Egypt nominee at the Center for Applied Research on Environment and Sustainability (CARES) at the American University in Cairo. The talk was moderated by Dr. Mahmoud Sakr, COP 27 Science Day Coordinator and President of the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology. The talk was entitled, “Mangroves as a Nature-Based Solution to Climate Change.”
The guests were welcomed by Dr. Maggie N. Nassif, Executive Director and the Fulbright team.
