Science Circle Convenes 3rd Seminar, “Fulbrighters Face Egypt’s Scientific Challenges: Young Innovators in Energy”
The Commission’s Science Circle conducted the third of its seminars on “Fulbrighters Face Egypt’s Scientific Challenges” focusing on “Young Innovators in Energy.” Co-hosted by the Faculty of Engineering of Cairo University, the seminar continued an initiative that begun in July 2011 at the City of Scientific Research and Technology Applications. The seminar aims to introduce a new “energy consciousness” culture to Egypt’s young future leaders and their communities. Students from Cairo and Helwan Universities and The American University in Egypt presented their projects that promote and utilize green, sustainable and high performance designs that protect available energy resources.
Approximately sixty faculty members and students joined the Fulbright Science Circle to address one of the most critical challenges of Egypt namely Energy. The following Fulbright Alumnus formed a review panel for the student’s presentations:
• Dr. Mahmoud Fouad (University of California – Berkley 1986-1987), Professor of Mechanical Engineering – Cairo University
• Dr. Hani Moubasher (University of California – Davis 2001-2002), Professor of Biotechnology – Cairo University
• Dr. Mahmoud Hammam (University of Pennsylvania (1985-1986), Professor of Physics of Helwan University and current Leader of the Science Circle
