American Fulbrighters Retreat to Ain ElSukhna
On May 9-11 the Commission hosted its annual year-end Retreat for U.S. Fulbrighters. Convened in Ain ElSukhna, the retreat heard American Fulbrighters’ presentations on sharing their experiences. It was a great opportunity as well for the Fulbrighters to have round- table discussions, on themes of interest, facilitated by Elizabeth Khalifa, Executive Director, Binational Fulbright Commission in Egypt.” I really enjoyed the round table discussion and thought they were very proactive,” said one Fulbrighter. “…Most interesting was “Sharing the Experience” and spending time with the peer group,” noted a second. “I enjoyed learning about the other experiences of the Fulbrighters …,” a third one added. “I really enjoyed the entire concept of this trip; the retreat format was much preferable to a conference,” commented a fourth. A highlight of the weekend was a visit to Saint Anthony’s Monastery. “The monastery visit was amazing!” others remarked. The retreat featured as well a re-entry workshop:“ Bringing the Story Home”- by George Marquis, Acting Chair, Department of Rhetoric and Composition, American University in Cairo- on which one Fulbrighter commented: “It was all interesting especially the round table discussions and George Marquis’ presentation/activity”. Our thanks to all participants for helping to bring the Culture Education program for AY2012-2013 to a fruitful conclusion.
