U.S. Fulbrighter Studies Arabic at CASA and Conducts Research at Helwan University and the American University in Cairo
An American Fulbrighter has begun research on “State Reform and Political Transition in 19th and 20th Century Egypt”. She is Ms. Sofia Fenner, a doctoral student at University of Chicago. Ms. Fenner studied Arabic at the American University in Cairo in 2006-2007 and graduated from Yale University in 2007 with a degree in Political Science. In 2008, she pursued her masters at the University of Chicago. While in Egypt Ms. Fenner has assumed language studies at the Center for Arabic Studies Abroad (CASA) and she will be affiliated with Helwan University and the American University in Cairo. She is in Egypt under the auspices of the Commission’s U.S. Fulbright Student Program. The Commission extends a warm welcome to Sofia!
