U.S. Fulbright Scholar Conducts Research at Cairo University
Dr. Ghazzal Dabiri, Coordinator of Persian Program at Columbia University, has begun research on classical Arabic poetry while affiliated with Cairo University. Dr. Dabiri was educated at University of Miami (B.Sc. 1997) and the University of California – Los Angeles (M.A. 2001, Ph.D. 2007), and has been a member of the Columbia University faculty since 2008. While in Egypt she will conduct research on the “Poetics of Classical Arabic Literature and the Shu’ubiyah Movement” in affiliation with Dr. Muhammed Badawy, a professor of literary criticism in Cairo University’s Faculty of Arts. The Commission extends a warm welcome to Ghazzal.
