Al Azhar University Lecturer Returns from Fulbright Interfaith Community Action Program
Mr. Mustafa Khattab, a lecturer in Islamic studies at Al Azhar University, has returned to Egypt from participation in the Fulbright Interfaith Community Action Program. The program called together a multinational group of seven community leaders, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and scholars for a semester of exchanges that included discussion, debate, and collaborative learning centered on interfaith dialogue and cooperation. Mr. Mustafa was affiliated with the University of California – Santa Barbara and the Hartford Seminar in Connecticut. While participating in the program Mr. Mustafa gathered several ideas for his Ph.D. dissertation on “The Image of Arabs and Muslims in American Media.”
Describing his experience, Mr. Mustapha said: “I was taken to places I never thought I would visit, talked to people I never believed I would meet, asked questions I believed I would never be asked, and introduced to new things I never imagined I would experience.” Welcome home to Mustafa Said.
