American Fulbrighter lectures at ARCE

On February 20 an American Fulbrighter, Ms. Stephanie Boyle, lectured at the prestigious American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE) in Cairo. The presentation, “Tanta and Tantawi and transformation the urbanization of the 19th century Delta city,” was a feature of ARCE’s regular series of presentations by distinguished visiting scholars. A doctoral student at Northeastern University, Boyle is studying “Sheikha Nur al Sabah: a 19th-century Sufi mystic from Tanta,” while affiliated with Dr. Sameeh Shaalan of the Higher Institute for Folkloric Studies, Academy of Arts. Boyle holds a B.A. degree in history from Wesleyan University and an M.A. degree, also in history, from Trinity College. She is in Egypt under the auspices of the Commission’s American student program.
