American Fulbright-Hays Student Lectures at ARCE
On May 23 U.S. Fulbright-Hays Fellow Anthony Shenoda lectured at the prestigious American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE) in Cairo. The presentation, “Baraka, Miracles, and Materiality: Politics of Faith among Contemporary Copts,” was a feature of ARCE’s regular series of presentations by distinguished visiting scholars. Shenoda is a doctoral candidate at Harvard University, where he is working on a dissertation entitled: “Toward an Anthropology of Mystery: Coptic Encounters with the Miraculous.” Shenoda holds an M.A. degree from the University of Arizona and a second M.A. degree, in social anthropology, from Harvard. His fellowship is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and administered by the Commission in Egypt.
