Alumni Inaugurate Science Circle
On April 26 the Commission inaugurated its Science Circle,” an organization of alumni in the pure and applied sciences. The Circle’s organizers included the Commission’s Manager for Alumni Affairs, Ms. Safaa Abbadi, and Fulbright alumna, Dr. Mariam El Deeb (University of Minnesota AY1995-1996), of Assiut University. As Dr. El Deeb noted during the inaugural session, the Science Circle will nourish ties among the many scientists who have benefited from Fulbright exchanges. The initial meeting featured a lecture, “Cancer: Why, How, Where?” by Fulbright alumnus Dr. Ayman Samy Daba (University of Wisconsin AY2005-2006). Dr. Daba is a biotechnologist at the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Research Institute in Alexandria.
