IEP Participants Attend Orientation Program
On November 28 the Commission conducted a pre-departure orientation for Egyptian teachers selected for participation in the International Educators Program (IEP). The orientation included presentations on IEP’s academic program, and Fulbrighters Anthony Shenoda and Maryann Shenoda – as well as Fulbright alumnus Ahmed Tayel – shared their experience with the grantees. The IEP sends secondary school teachers from Egypt and other countries in the region to the United States for six months of professional development. The program expands expertise in the participant’s subject area, enhances teaching skills, and provides an opportunity better to understand American culture and society. Nearly one dozen Egyptians will participate in the program in 2007.
