Egypt’s Fulbright Commission Alumni Conduct American Studies Workshop

On November 17 three Binational Fulbright Commission in Egypt alumnae convened an American studies workshop at the American University of Cairo’s Prince Alwaleed Center for American Studies. The workshop, “Text as Artifact: Exploring Contemporary American Literature,” was conducted by AUC visiting research scholar, Janice Lee Jayes, Cairo University professor Mounira Soliman, and Menoufeya University professor Osama Madany. Other workshop conveners included the American Embassy’s Regional English Language Officer George Scholz.

The workshop acquainted 25 junior faculty from 11 Egyptian universities with multidisciplinary approaches to American literature. Through programs like “Text as Artifact” the Commission shares the expertise of its alumni with other members of Egypt’s academic community.
