Sherif Elnegahy joined the Egyptian Judiciary in 2006; his passion for justice led him to explore the field of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) as a way of enhancing the quality of justice in the Arab world. He was awarded the Fulbright scholarship in 2008, graduating from Pepperdine University with an LLM in Dispute Resolution. Alongside his classes he acted as a mediator in LA superior court, settling several cases.  Building on his knowledge and experience Judge Elnegahy completed his PhD in Mediation at the University of Strathclyde, UK in 2017. Inspired by his thesis and research Judge Elnegahy co-authored the first academic book on mediation in the Arabic language with Judge Ahmed Hamdan in 2017.

Dr Hossam Lotfy, a member of the review panel for the publication said that:

“أول مرجع عربي متكامل في مجاله ، وفيه تفصيلات مفيدة ومهمة ستفتح الباب أمام تأمل وامعان في النظام القضائي العربي ككل ، و هي تقدم حلاً مهماً وعمليا لمعاناة المتعاملين مع القضاء”

Judge Elnegahy is grateful to the experience he gained during his scholarship and its direct impact on the publishing of the book; he hopes it goes some way towards enhancing the quality of justice in the Arab world.
