American Fulbright Scholar Lectures at Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture
On February 1 an American Fulbright scholar, Randy R. Gaugler, lectured at the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture’s Plant Protection Research Institute (PPRI). The presentation, “Entomopathogenic Nematodes and their Biological Control Potential,” was attended by more than fifty Egyptian researchers who share Dr. Gaugler’s interest in controlling pathogenic nematodes. A professor of zoology at Rutgers University, Dr. Gaugler is currently in Egypt under the auspices of the Binational Fulbright Commission in Egypt’s U.S. Scholar Program. He and Dr. Muhammad Mostafa Shamseldean, a zoologist at Cairo University, are conducting research at the University’s Faculty of Agriculture. Through programs like this the Commission’s grantees share their expertise with the larger Egyptian scientific community.
