Fulbright-Egypt Alumni Join Education, Government and Business Leaders at EDUGATE
On July 28, 2026, the Binational Fulbright Commission in Egypt was pleased to partner with EDUGATE – Egypt’s premier education forum – at its 19th International University Fair and Forum in Egypt and the Middle East. Five Fulbright alumni of the Egyptian Fulbright Scholar, Joint Faculty Development Program (JFDP) and the Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) programs joined prominent leaders in education, university presidents and provosts, parliamentarians, government officials and business executives to discuss how they are leading innovation on their campuses at the conversion of the two main tracks in higher education: the scientific research, production of knowledge and innovation track and its intersection with basic education, training and developing job skills among college students. The speakers represented diplomatic missions and academic establishments from Turkey, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, and Great Britain.
Fulbright alumni: Dr. Amina Halawani from Alexandria University and Dr. Alaa Abouelfetouh from Alamein International University spoke at the opening session titled: “From Education 4.0 to Education 5.0: Designing Human-Centered, AI Embedded Disciplines for the Knowledge Economy”. The second session featured Dr. Amr Elbenhawy from Ain Shams University and Dr. Tamer Sakr from Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority who addressed the topic of impact in a session titled: ” From Publication to Impact: Mission-Oriented Research in the New Era of Global Collaboration.” This was followed by Fulbright JFDP alumna Dr. Irene Gabriel from Nile University who spoke on “Building Innovation Ecosystems that Connect Universities to the Economy’ during the 3rd session. Executive Director Maggie Nassif gave an overview of Fulbright-Egypt opportunities and initiatives in support of workforce development in Egypt and the US in priority fields.
