BFCE at the 3rd International Conference, South Valley University
The Binational Fulbright Commission in Egypt (BFCE) team led by Executive Director Dr. Maggie Nassif accompanied by Senior Fulbright Program Officer Ms. Mai Ayyad was honored to participate in the 3rd International Conference on “Basic Sciences and Sustainable Development” which was hosted by South Valley University. The BFCE team were welcomed in Qena by South Valley University President, Dr. Ahmed Akawy, the Vice Presidents, and the Dean of the Faculty of Science Dr. Khaled Ibn El Waleed. The Fulbright delegation included Fulbright alum of the Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP), Dr. Irene Samy, Associate Professor of Industrial and Service Engineering and Management Department at Nile University who gave a talk on Advancement of Green Materials and Circular Economy and Fulbright U.S. Scholar Dr. Samir El Omari, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Wisconsin-Platteville who spoke on Sustainability in Engineering Design. The BFCE team gave an information session on Fulbright opportunities for Egyptian graduate students and scholars to travel to the U.S. and for Egyptian universities to host scholars and specialists from the U.S.
تشرف فريق هيئة فولبرايت في مصر بقيادة د. ماجي نصيف المدير التنفيذي وبصحبتها أ. مي عياد مسئول برامج اول بحضور المؤتمر الدولي الثالث للعلوم الأساسية والتنمية المستدامة والذي استضافته جامعة جنوب الوادي. وقام معالي رئيس الجامعة أ.د. أحمد عكاوي والسادة النواب والسيد عميد كلية العلوم د. خالد ابن الوليد بالترحيب بفريق فولبرايت في محافظة قنا. وتضمن الوفد د. إيرين سامي، خريجة برنامج فولبرايت والأستاذ المساعد للهندسة الصناعية والإدارة بجامعة النيل والتي القت كلمة عن تقدم المواد الخضراء والاقتصاد الدائري وأستاذ فولبرايت الأمريكي د. سمير العمري أستاذ الهندسة المدنية والبيئية بجامعة ويسكونسون بلاتفيل والذي تحدث عن الاستدامة في التصميم الهندسي. وقام فريق فولبرايت بالقاء ندوة تعريفية عن فرص فولبرايت للأساتذة وطلاب الدراسات العليا للسفر للولايات المتحدة وللجامعات المصرية لاستضافة أستاذه وخبراء امريكيين.
