On November 8th, 2021, the Binational Fulbright Commission in Egypt (BFCE) hosted a virtual celebration whose main theme was “75 Years of Friendship and Exchange” to mark the 75th anniversary of the creation of the Global Fulbright Program and also acknowledge the successful completion of the Fulbright program of the 2021 BFCE alumni cohort. Chair of BFCE’s Board of Directors and Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ayman Ashour, and Treasurer and Minister Counselor for Public Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Ms. Lauren Lovelace gave welcome remarks, while the Commission’s alumnus of the Harvard Institute for International Development, Mr. Ahmed Issa, Chief Executive Officer of Retail Banking and Member of the Board’s Management Committee at Egypt’s Commercial International Bank (CIB) gave the keynote speech and welcomed the 2021 alumni to the Fulbright-Egypt alumni circle.

Dr. Maggie Nassif, BFCE Executive Director expressed her gratitude for the dedication of the Commission’s active alumni circles: the Fulbright-Egypt Art and Humanities Circle, the Science Circle and the Hubert Humphrey circle who represent the BFCE alumni network of 8000 American and Egyptian talented agents of change in every field. She also thanked the Commission’s partners who are represented on the BFCE Board of Directors: the Ministry of Higher Education, the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities and USAID as well as the Commission friends at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Education and Cultural Affairs Bureau (ECA) of the U.S. Department of State. Dr. Nassif acknowledged Fulbright friends on Egyptian and U.S. university campuses and research institutes who support the recruitment and hosting of Fulbright grantees. Dr. Nassif encouraged alumni to stay connected with the Fulbright Program through joining the Fulbrighter App to access a worldwide network of experts in their fields and enjoy an environment of like-minded individuals within the global Fulbright alumni community.
