65 Years of Fulbright and Beyond: Youth, Education, and Employment in EGYPT

In 2015, the Binational Fulbright Commission in Egypt (BFCE) celebrated its 65th anniversary with three events on education, economic development and employment. The first roundtable hosted at Helwan University featured the ten members of the Egyptian Presidential Council on Education. The second event was BFCE’s first webinar and was streamed in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce.

On December 15th,2015 BFCE hosted a panel discussion which was cosponsored with the newly founded Higher Education Partnership Program (funded by HEI), USAID, the US Embassy in Cairo, the Population Council, the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities and the Egyptian Industry Federation. The panel titled 65 Years of Fulbright and Beyond: Youth, Education, and Employment in EGYPT” featured the following distinguished speakers:

  • Ashraf Hatem, Chairman of the Board, Binational Fulbright Commission in Egypt (BFCE) and Secretary-General, Supreme Council of Universities – Panel Chair
  • Maggie Nassif, Executive Director, BFCE
  • Nahla Abdel Tawab, Country Director, Population Council and Hubert Humphrey alumna- Moderator
  • Ragui Assaad, Professor of Planning and Public Affairs, Humphrey School of Public Affairs, University of Minnesota
  • Rania Roushdy, Senior Research Manager, Population Council
