Teachers’ Circle Conducts a Seminar “Back to Inspire”
On May 7, the Commission’s Teachers’ Circle alumni conducted a seminar on “Back to Inspire” hosted by the Students’ Club of the English Department, Faculty of Arts, Cairo University. Alumni of the Teachers’ Circle, the Circle’s Leader, Ms. Amira Hegazy (Vassar College 2010-2011), Ms. Fatma El Zahra’a (Colorado State University 2010-2011), Ms. Sahar Ramadan ( University of California 2008-2009) and Ms. Mariam el Naqr (Manhattan College 2010-2011), shared with university students their dreams and professional ambitions at the age of the audience. In addition, they described how their Fulbright experience in the USA changed their life, cultural, and professional perspectives. Dr. Maggie Nassif, BFCE Executive Director, gave an overview of the needs of American students in the fields of Middle East Studies and Arabic. She discussed the important position, that Egypt with its prominent Study Abroad providers, has in this field in general and that Egyptian FLTA’s occupy in particular. The objective of the seminar is to reach out to Egyptian University Students’, shed light on an alternative career path (teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language) , inspire youth, and give them a glimpse of other cultures. In a panel format, the alumni shared with the audience the process of evolution on both the personal and professional levels.
