On November 23-25 fourteen American Fulbrighters visited Minia Governorate and Minia University.  The tour was sponsored by the Commission’s Culture and Education Program, and was assisted by Fulbright alumna Dr. Ghada Abdel Hafiz (Ohio University AY 1991-1992), Chair of English Department, Faculty of Arts, Minia University. American Fulbrighters interacted with their Egyptian peers during site visits guided by Dr. Engy El Kilany,

Assistant Professor, Faculty of Tourism, Minia University. Visits to the Governorate’s historical sites were followed by an Egyptian-American dialogue between the visiting Fulbrighters and more than forty students and teachers from the University.  “The visit to Minia University was the most dynamic day.  Interacting with the students was a sincere pleasure,” said one Fulbrighter.  “I really enjoyed the ferry ride to Bani Hassan and the visit to the tombs. I loved that we were able to spend so much time talking with our Egyptian peers…” Another Fulbrighter added: “I am glad I got to meet so many hard-working and bright Egyptians who have never had extended discussions with Americans before”.  The visit to Minia University was part of a three day collaboration with the University that also included presentations to students and faculty on Fulbright Program Opportunities on November 26 and a Fulbright Alumni seminar titled “To  Revolt or to Adapt:From Teaching Revolutionary Literature to Initiating Literary Adaptation” held in collaboration with the English Department on November 27
