U.S. Fulbright Specialists Conduct Workshop at Fayoum University
Two U.S. Fulbright Specialists, Dr. James A. Saunders, a professor of molecular biology at Towson University, and Dr. Benjamin Matthews, a plant physiologist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, are currently conducting a workshop at Fayoum University. The workshop, which is focused on molecular biology and bioinformatics, is being conducted under the direction of Dr. Sanaa Haroon, the Director of Fayoum’s Nematology & Biotechnology Center. More than 150 participants from Egypt and the Middle East are in attendance. Matthews and Saunders are visiting Egypt, accompanied by their families, under the auspices of the Commission’s Fulbright Specialist Program, which provides short-term opportunities for Egyptian institutions and American scholars to increase collaboration between the United States and Egypt. The Commission extends a warm welcome to them.
