Fulbright Alumnus Performs At Cairo Opera House
On April 5 Mr. Wael Farouk, an alumnus of the Commission’s Egyptian Scholar Program, performed before a standing-room-only audience at Cairo’s prestigious Cairo Opera House. Together with the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, Wael played “Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in G Major” by Maurice Ravel. As an AY2002-2003 Fulbrighter, Wael studied piano at Catholic University. He subsequently assumed studies at Converse College and Manhattan School of Music, where he earned an M.A. degree. He is currently working on an Artist Diploma at the Chicago School of Performing Arts. In appearing in concert with the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, Wael showcased the Commission’s contribution to the cultural life of Egypt.
