Commission Bids Farewell to Faten-Shiry Naguib

At an Iftar convened at the Marriott Hotel on September 27, the Commission bid farewell to its Deputy Executive Director Ms. Faten-Shiry Naguib. Faten had joined the Commission as a junior officer is 1979, and had risen to program officer (in 1983) and senior program officer (1986) before being named Deputy Executive Director in 2001. Gathered to honor Faten were members of the Board of Directors, including Dr. Ahmed Baha’a El Din Khairy, Dr. Abdallah Mohamed Kamal El Din Barakat; and Vice Chairman Mr. Thomas Thomason.

Members of the staff spoke fondly of their years with Faten, as did Fulbright alumni and other friends. Faten thanked the Commission “not only for the lovely farewell party” but for “its roots that go back twenty-eight years.” Actually, though, it is the Commission and its alumni who thank Faten for more than a quarter-century of service to mutual understanding through mutual education. Faten and her husband,Mr. Tarek Saleh Abdel Ghafar, will now reside in 6th of October. A warm farewell to her!
