American Fulbrighters Visit Minia
On February 23-25 fifteen American Fulbrighters visited Minia Governorate and Minia University. The tour was sponsored by the Commission’s Culture and Education Program, and was assisted by Dr. Ahmed Zahran, Vice President for Post Graduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Eugene Cruz-Uribe, an AY2006-2007 Fulbright Scholar from Northern Arizona University. Visits to the Governorate’s many historical site visits were followed by dinner and an Egyptian-American dialogue between the visiting Fulbrighters and more than a dozen students and teachers from the University. “I especially enjoyed visiting the Coptic Church and meeting with the students,” said one Fulbrighter.
“If there were future opportunities to meet with students in that kind of forum, I’d definitely take advantage of it.” Another Fulbrighter called the dialogue the most enjoyable part of the visit. “I feel very inspired, she said, “to see young Egyptians and young Americans together.”
