American Fulbright-Hays Student Lectures at ARCE
On February 14, U.S. Fulbright-Hays Fellow, Daniel Gilman, lectured at the prestigious American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE) in Cairo. The presentation, “Muhammad Ali Pasha in Nationalist Historiography” was a feature of ARCE’s regular series of presentations by distinguished visiting scholars. Gilman is a doctoral candidate at University of Texas – Austin, where he is working on a dissertation entitled: “Female Singers and Gendered National Identity in Egypt.” Gilman earned an M.A. degree from Texas in 2005. His fellowship is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and administered by the Commission in Egypt.
