U.S. Fulbright Student Conducts Research at National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries
A Ph.D. candidate at the University of California, Berkeley, has begun research at the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries, Ministry of Scientific Research. She is Ms. Lorraine Casazza. Ms. Casazza earned her B.A, degree in marine science at Berkeley and is currently completing her Ph.D. degree in integrative biology there. Through her research in Egypt, “Using Fossils in Coral Reef Monitoring,” Ms. Casazza hopes to develop an inexpensive, no-impact method for assessing the health of coral reefs and predicting their future responses to changing environmental conditions. She will conduct her research while affiliated with Dr. Amani Badawi, a lecturer at the Institute. The Commission extends a warm welcome to Ms. Casazza!
