U.S. Fulbright Scholar Lectures at American University in Cairo
A philosophy professor from the United States will begin lecturing for one academic year at the American University in Cairo (AUC). She is Lisa R. Portmess, a professor in the Department of Philosophy at Gettysburg College. Dr. Portmess was educated at Gettysburg College (B.A., Philosophy, 1972) and Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada (M.A., Philosophy, 1975). She earned her Ph.D. degree in Philosophy from Queen’s University in 1979. Dr. Portmess is in Egypt as a U.S. Fulbright Scholar under the auspices of the Binational Fulbright Commission in Egypt. She will teach American studies at AUC’s Department of Philosophy. She is accompanied by her daughter, Corinne A. Stokes, who will study at AUC. A warm welcome to Dr. Portmess and Corinne.
