U.S. Fulbright-Hays Student Conducts Research in Alexandria
A graduate student from the United States is conducting doctoral dissertation research at the Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center. She is Ms. Elizabeth Shlala, a graduate student at Georgetown University. Together with her faculty affiliate, Dr. Mohammed Awad, a historian of architecture at Alexandria University and director of the Center, she is studying “A Mediterranean Encounter: the Italian Community in Modern Alexandria, Egypt (1802-1952).” Ms. Shlala is a Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad student. Her program is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and administered by the Binational Fulbright Commission in Egypt. She is in Egypt with her husband, Mr. Federico Shlala, and their children Lorenzo and Ella. A warm welcome to the Shlala family.
