Fulbright Critical Language Enhancement Awards
Program Goal
Provides opportunities for American Fulbright students to receive intensive language instruction supplementary to their full Fulbright grants.
Eligible Fields: Colloquial Arabic; modern standard Arabic.
Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must have completed a minimum of one year of Arabic language studies and must have been awarded a full Fulbright grant in conjunction with the CLEA. In addition to meeting the eligibility requirements of the U.S. Fulbright Student Program, successful CLEA candidates must also demonstrate an interest in continuing their Arabic language training in future professional activities.
Grant Duration: 3-6 months. CLEA and full Fulbright grant periods must be consecutive. Arabic language-only students schedule CLEA grants to occur following the completion of their Fulbright grant periods. For other students, CLEA grants must precede Fulbright grants. CLEA and Fulbright grants may not be taken concurrently.
