Fulbright-Egypt Celebrates a Milestone: The First PhD Joint Supervision Dissertation Defense at Assiut University

President of Assiut University Dr. Ahmed Al Menshawy welcomed the Fulbright team led by Executive Director Dr. Maggie Nassif to attend the PhD dissertation defense of Ms. Arwa Nouby, Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Arts’ Media and Mass Communication Department on the Role of Egyptian Satellite Television Channels’ Web Pages in Supporting Sustainable Development Diplomacy for Egypt’s Vision 2030. Arwa’s U.S.-based co-supervisor Dr. Gaby Semaan, Director of Middle East Studies and Arabic Program at the Department of World Languages and Cultures of the University of Toledo, was in attendance. Over the two-day visit, the Commission hosted a Fulbright alumni event which was attended by the University President, Vice Presidents, Deans and alumni from Assiut, Minia, and Sohag; the team gave an information session on Fulbright opportunities and Dr. Saman gave a lecture on Cultural Exchange and Mutual Understanding.
