2026 Fulbright-Egypt Leadership Series: Luxor Edition

From Idea to Ecosystem: Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer

On Saturday January 31 2026, the Binational Fulbright Commission in Egypt (BFCE) hosted a senior executive national roundtable titled, “From Idea to Ecosystem: Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer” for members of the Supreme Council of Universities (SCU) led by H.E. Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and BFCE Chair of the Board, Professor Mohamed Ayman Ashour. The event was coordinated to coincide with the Supreme Council’s monthly meeting which was hosted by Luxor University and included symposia and festivities on topics that ranged from disability studies to study abroad. The event was led by Dr. Richard Joseph, Senior Consultant at the Association of Governing Boards of Colleges and Universities; Former President and Chief Executive Officer of Babson Global, Inc.; Former Provost and Chief Academic Officer of Bryant University; and Former Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs of Hult International Business School. Dr. Joseph is an alumnus of the Harvard College, Princeton University, Oxford University, University of Paris-La Sorbonne and University of Texas at Austin. He has practiced law and worked as a certified financial advisor in Texas and New York. The event was attended by BFCE Board members Professor Mostafa Rifat, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Universities and Dr. Ayman Farid, Head of the Cultural Affairs and Missions Sector.

University leaders were joined by: Professor Hossam Osman, Deputy Minister for Innovation and Scientific Research, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, Ministry Spokesperson and Communications Advisor to the Minister; Professor Abdel Wahab Ezzat, Secretary General, Supreme Council of Private Universities; Professor Maher Mesbah, Secretary General, Supreme Council of National Universities; Professor Ahmed El Geushey, Secretary General, Supreme Council of Technological Universities; Professor Salwa Rashad, Secretary General, Supreme Council of Foreign Branch Campuses; Professor Saleh Hashem, former President of Ain Shams University and Head of the SCU Foreign Languages Committee; Dr. Sherine Yahya, Minister’s Advisor for Disability; and Major General Dr. Amr Allam, Permanent Undersecretary and Assistant Minister for Institutional Development. The president and deans of Luxor universities were among the audience.

Twenty university presidents were in attendance and were welcomed by Dr. Maggie Nassif, Executive Director of BFCE, who was joined by the Fulbright team: (names are in alphabetical order):
