Fulbright Team Tours Alexandria, Matrouh and Beheira

The Fulbright team launched its tour in the coastal governorates with its annual alumni event in Alexandria which was attended by U.S. grantees to Egypt, Fulbright Egyptian alumni and partners from academia and the business community in Alexandria and the Delta region. They were joined by the Presidents of the Arab Academy of Science, Technology and Maritime Transportation; The President of Damanhour University (a ULP alum); the President of Matrouh University (a ULP alum); the Vice President of Matrouh University; the Vice President of the Russian University in Egypt (a CCAP alum) and a member of Parliament (a Fulbright alum). The event included a piano recital by U.S. Fulbright Scholar at the Academy of Art Dr. Jason Terry. The U.S. grantees spent the following two days visiting cultural and historic sites in Alexandria such as the Greco-Roman Museum, the Royal Jewelry Museum, the Catacombs, the Qayet Bey Citadel and the Montazah Royal Gardens.

The Commission team visited the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transportation in Abu Qir; Matrouh University and Damanhour University and met with the presidents of the three campuses, the Vice Presidents, Deans, Professors and graduate students. They also connected with alumni on these campuses and gave program information sessions. The discussions focused on ways for collaboration through hosting U.S. Fulbright Scholars and Specialists and offering Fulbright grants to professors and graduate students to study and conduct research in the United States.

In addition, the team visited the Amideast office in Alexandria and gave a Fulbright information session in collaboration with the Education USA representative in Alexandria.
