BFCE at Partnership Development For Climate Adaptation in Arab States

The Binational Fulbright Commission in Egypt (BFCE) was honored to participate in the Partnership Development For Climate Adaptation in Arab States (PDCA) Conference hosted by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), the American University in Cairo, the Arab Water Council, and the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development. Ms. Ranya Rashed, BFCE Director of Programs, spoke as part of a panel titled: Education and Green Skills. The session was moderated by Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development. Among the speakers were H.E. Dr. Mohamed Megahed, Deputy Minister of Education and Technical Education; Prof. Ahmad Wagdy, Project Manager for “Building National Capabilities to Enhance Public Participation for the Realization of the Third Phase Rio Agreements” (CB3), Ministry of Environment; Mr. Shiraz Chakera, Chief of Education at UNICEF; Ms. Nadeen Al-Alami, Programs Strategy Manager, Dubai Cares; Ms. Hanan El-Rihany, CEO of ElSewedy Technical Academy, and Prof. Dr. Menno Pradhan, J-PAL Affiliated Researcher, Professor of Economics, University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. During the session, Ms. Rashed discussed how BFCE supports green skills and education through grants for Egyptian students and scholars in environmental sciences, renewable energy, water resources management, sustainable engineering, and more, as well as Fulbright opportunities for Egyptian institutions to host U.S. scholars and specialists in environmental fields.
