Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation Roundtable
The Fulbright Commission hosted on Thursday, at the Kempinski Hotel, a group of researchers and scientists affiliated with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and the National Research Center (NRC) for a special seminar on water management and sustainability delivered by the Fulbright U.S. Specialist Prof. Ranil Wickramasinghe, Distinguished Professor at the University of Arkansas, who was hosted by the NRC to share his expertise in one of the center’s projects in the field of water desalination.
Among the distinguished attendees were representatives from the Channel Maintenance Research Institute, Environmental and Climate changes Research Institute, Nile Research Institute, Construction Research Institute, Water Management Research Institute, Research Institute for Groundwater, Water Resources Research Institute, Central Laboratory for Environmental Monitoring, Drainage Research Institute, Survey Research Institute, in addition to the research team that hosted Prof. Wickramasinghe led by Prof. Shadia Ragheb at the NRC.
This cooperation with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation builds upon the Commission’s efforts to support scientific research and training in the field of environment and natural resources in support of Egypt’s Sustainable Development Strategy 2030. The attendees were welcomed by Ms. Ranya Rashed, Director of Programs at the Fulbright Commission and Mr. Ashraf Ismail, Finance Manager. The Fulbright Team presented to the attendees all grants offered by the Commission for research, study and training in the United States in the fields of water, natural resources and climate change.
استضافت هيئة فولبرايت أول أمس بفندق كمبينسكي مجموعة من الباحثين والعلماء التابعين لوزارة الموارد المائية والري والمعهد القومي للبحوث لحضور ندوة خاصة عن إدارة المياه والاستدامة القاها خبير فولبرايت الأمريكي الاستاذ الدكتور/ رانيل ويكراماسينجي الاستاذ المتميز بجامعة اركنساس والذي قد تم استضافته من قبل المركز القومي للبحوث لمشاركة خبراته في احدى مشروعات المركز في مجال تحلية المياه. وكان ضمن الحضور الكريم ممثلين عن معهد بحوث صيانة القنوات المائية ومعهد بحوث التغيرات المناخية واثارها البيئية ومعهد بحوث النيل ومعهد بحوث الانشاءات ومعهد بحوث إدارة المياه وطرق الري ومعهد بحوث المياه الجوفية ومعهد بحوث الموارد المائية والمعامل المركزية للرصد البيئي ومعهد بحوث الصرف ومعهد بحوث المساحة بالإضافة إلى الفريق البحثي الذي استضاف الدكتور/ رانيل ويكراماسينجي بقيادة الاستاذة الدكتورة/ شادية راغب بالمركز القومي للبحوث. يأتي هذا التعاون مع وزارة الموارد المائية والري في ظل جهود الهيئة لدعم البحث العلمي والتدريب في مجال البيئة والموارد الطبيعية مساندةً لخطة مصر للتنمية الاستراتيجية ٢٠٣٠. وقام بالترحيب بالحضور الاستاذة/ رانية راشد مدير البرامج بهيئة فولبرايت والاستاذ/ أشرف إسماعيل المدير المالي، وقد عرض فريق فولبرايت على الحضور جميع المنح التي تقدمها الهيئة للبحث والدراسة والتدريب في الولايات المتحدة في مجالات المياه والموارد الطبيعية وتغير المناخ.
