3rd Fulbright Alumni Annual Conference and Embassy Reception
The Binational Fulbright Commission in Egypt (BFCE) hosted its 3rd Annual Alumni Conference at the Conrad hotel on October 22nd, 2017, where alumni gave presentation on their training and experiences while in the U.S. on their Fulbright, Humphrey and Community College grants. The event was attended by over 100 Commission alumni, friends and program semi-finalists. The conference panels were moderated by members of the Commission’s alumni circles who welcomed the new alumni to the larger BFCE community. The event concluded with a plenary session that included welcome remarks by Dr. Essam Khamis, BFCE Board member and Deputy Minister for Higher Education; Ms. Kit Bartels, Fulbright Program Branch Chief, NEA Region, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State and Ms. Helen LaFave, BFCE new Board member and Minister Counselor for Public Affairs, U.S. Embassy in Cairo. The keynote address was given by Dr. Mohamed Omran, Chair, Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority (EFSA) and alumnus of both the Fulbright Scholar Program and the Distinguished Hubert Humphrey Fellowship. The conference was followed by a reception at the U.S. embassy hosted by Chargé d’affaires Tom Goldberger and Mrs. Eden Goldberger and attended by His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education Dr. Khaled Abdul Ghaffar and many alumni and friends of BFCE.
