Humanities Circle Conducts Seminar, “Revolutionary Nation and Bewildered Media”

On February 25, the Commission’s Humanities Circle in collaboration with the Faculty of Alsun, Ain Shams University conducted a seminar, “Revolutionary Nation and Bewildered Media.” More than 100 faculty and students participated in the seminar. The first session featured presentations by Dr. Hassan Salama, Chief editor at Nile News Channel and Ms. Reem Nour, Reporter, Nile English News TV to compare and provide their different roles and the job challenges in relaying reality to their audiences. The second session featured presentations by Mr. Yehia Mumtaz, Director, Mehwar Satellite Channel who explained the risks and challenges facing public and private media before and during the revolution, and by the administrative team of the Facebook page “Asahby” specialized in providing a comic coverage of the revolution events. Alumni Dr. Mounira Soliman (New York University 2004-2005) and Dr. Sonia Farid (University of California – Santa Cruz 2006-2007) moderated the two sessions.
