American Studies Circle Conducts “Portrayal of the ‘Other’ Seminar on “Obama’s Visit in Egyptian Media”
The Commission’s American Studies Circle has conducted the second of its seminars on the term The Portrayal of the ‘Other’” by focusing on U.S. President Barack Obama’s recent visit to Egypt. “Obama’s Visit in Egyptian Media” was led by Fulbright alumna Inas Abou Youssef (Ocean County College 2006-2007). Dr. Inas, head of Cairo University’s Women and Media Research Center, is the current leader of the circle. The seminar was attended by Fulbright alumni, 2009-2010 grantees, and others, all of whom shared analyses and opinions of the President’s visit and its impact on the future of the Middle East and Islamic countries. Through activities like this, the Commission shares the expertise of its alumni and grantees with other members of Egypt’s academic community.
