U.S. Fulbright Student Conducts Research at Helwan University

A Ph.D. candidate at University of Michigan is conducting research at Helwan University. She is Ms. Heather Badamo. Ms. Badamo earned a B.A. degree in anthropology and art history at Lafayette College in 2003 and an M.A. in Byzantine and Coptic art history from University of Michigan in 2006. While affiliated with Dr. Aly Omar Abdallah, the Dean of Helwan’s Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management, Ms. Badamo will study “Among Byzantines and Muslims: medieval Coptic representations of military saints.” Prior to pursuing her research, Ms. Badamo is studying Arabic at the International Language Institute in Cairo under the auspices of the Commission’s Critical Language Enhancement Award (CLEA) Program. The Commission extends a warm welcome to her!
