American Fulbrighters Tour Coptic Cairo

 In Uncategorized

On November 4 American Fulbrighters enjoyed a walking tour of Coptic Cairo. The program was arranged and sponsored by the Commission’s Cultural and Educational Program, and was guided by Dr. Shaza Gamal, a 2005-2006 Fulbright Alumna who lectures in the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels at Helwan University. Included in the tour were the Hanging Church, St. Sergius Church, the Ben Ezra Synagogue, the Coptic Museum, as well as the Virgin Mary Church in Maadi. The Executive Director Dr. Bruce A. Lohof and other members of the Commission’s staff joined the expedition, which was followed by a felucca lunch on the Nile. The Commission’s Cultural and Educational Program helps its American grantees to see Egypt and to develop new friendships with other Fulbright scholars, students, and their families. “I had a wonderful time,” one Fulbrighter said. “Our guide was amazing and I was so happy to be able to meet with some of the other Fulbrighters.”
